TOURNAMENT CENTRAL: Walsh Women Set For Third Meeting With Kentucky Wesleyan

CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET     G-MAC TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

(CEDARVILLE, Ohio) – Walsh will make its fourth consecutive postseason appearance tomorrow as the No. 2 seed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament hosted by Cedarville University. The Cavaliers ended the regular season with a record of 20-8 overall and 17-5 in the conference, just a game away from being conference champions. They'll take on No. 7 seed Kentucky Wesleyan who finished 15-11 overall and 11-11 in league play.

The 20-win season is the Cavaliers third in the last four seasons and ninth in program history. They come in as the hottest team in the tournament with an eight-game win streak.

Both teams are somewhat new to each other as their series history just began back on January 4 when Walsh defeated the Panthers 69-59 in Owensboro, Kentucky. Less than three weeks ago, the Cavaliers jumped out to an early lead in an 84-53 route of Kentucky Wesleyan at Alumni Arena on February 10.

The winner will advance to Friday's semifinal game against the winner of No. 3 Findlay or No. 6 Ohio Dominican. Those two will tip-off at 2:30 following the conclusion of the Cavaliers and Panthers game.

Walsh comes in as the best defensive team in the conference allowing just 62.6 points per game. The Cavs are third in the G-MAC in scoring margin with a difference of +10.0 points per game. The Panthers are defensively strong in their own way as opponents have committed 21.2 turnover per game, the most in the conference.

The Cavaliers' offense has been well-balanced all season with a variety of players leading the team in scoring any given night. Two Cavs average double-figures with Alex Hochstedler pacing the team with 12.8 points per game. Mayci Sales is second on the squad with 10.1 points per game.

The Panthers are in the same boat with only two players in double-figures. Keelie Lamb tops the team with 12.1 points per game, while Jenna Martin is just behind her at 11.5 per contest.

Regional Rankings: Walsh made its first appearance in the regional rankings today coming in at No. 10 after ending the regular season on an eight-game win streak. The winners of the G-MAC, GLVC, and GLIAC tournaments will receive automatic bids to the regional tournament with the next five highest ranked teams in the region following the conference tournaments receiving at-large bids.
