(INDIANAPOLIS) – Olivia Pifer has once again been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after a spectacular start to Walsh's spring break success in Myrtle Beach. Pifer also earned the accolades for the first week of the season and has helped the Cavaliers to an impressive 8-2 start, their best in 20 years.
The highlight of the week came in the first game of spring break when Pifer threw a perfect game against SUNY Delhi, Walsh's first since Kelsey Ford accomplished the feat on April 4, 2012, at home against Houghton. Against the Broncos, Pifer struck out 10 of the 15 batters she faced in a 13-0 victory.
The next day, Pifer shower her versatility by coming in to strikeout the final batter in an 8-6 defeat of rival Malone for her first save.
She capped off the day by going the distance against Glenville State where she allowed just one run on nine hits with nine strikeouts in a 6-1 win.
Altogether, Pifer pitched allowed just one run on nine hits in 12.1 innings of work for a 0.57 ERA with 20 strikeouts in three appearances for a 2-0 record and one save.
Pifer's impressive season line through four starts and seven appearances features a 1.52 ERA with 32.1 innings pitched and 31 strikeouts. She has just given up seven earned runs and walked only six.
She and the Cavs are back in action today in games against Cardinal Stritch and Briar Cliff.
