(FINDLAY, Ohio) – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Announced its 2017 All-GLIAC Softball Teams and Postseason Awards in conjunction with the Conference's annual softball tournament at the Marathon Diamonds today. Three Walsh Cavaliers were named to the All-GLIAC Team with Olivia Pifer named to the Second Team, while Jenna Head and Leah Roten were named to the Honorable Mention Team.
The awards were voted on by the conference softball coaches. Pifer is now a two-time selection after she was named as an Honorable Mention a year ago. Head is also a two-time selection after she was named on the Second Team last year.
Pifer, a junior from Loveland, Ohio, was named to the Second Team as a pitcher. She proved to be one of the GLIAC's top hurlers with 123 strikeouts, fourth-most in the GLIAC. She was third in complete game with 21 and in innings pitched with 167.2. Pifer featured a 2.34 ERA, seventh-best in the conference.
Head, a senior from Mantua, Ohio, was one of the top hitters on the team with 40 hits, five doubles, and a team-best four home runs. She drove in 12 runs and walked 11 times. She was sixth in the conference with 105 assists.
Roten was also one of the team's top hitters as she went 41-for-135 from the plate to lead the team with a .304 batting average. She led the team with nine doubles and 18 RBI, and also hit three home runs on the year.
