    Three Cavaliers have earned postseason honors by being named to the 2016 All-GLIAC Softball Teams in conjunction with the conference tournament this morning.

    The season came to a close today as Walsh was swept by Grand Valley State by scores of 5-1 and 7-3 in GLIAC action Saturday. The Cavaliers end the campaign at 18-29 overall and 9-17 in the conference.
  • Cavs Drop Pair of 6-5 Games To Bulldogs

    Walsh’s chances at making the GLIAC Tournament a third consecutive time took a hit it dropped both games to Ferris State by scores of 6-5 and 6-5 in 11 innings Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 18-27 overall and 9-15 in the GLIAC.
  • Dragons Sweep Walsh In Final Home Twin Bill

    Walsh was swept in its final doubleheader of the season with 5-0 and 9-1 defeats to Tiffin on Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers fall to 18-25 overall on the season and are 9-13 in the conference.

    The Walsh softball team was swept by Northwood by scores of 1-0 in eight innings and 8-2 in regulation on a sunny afternoon at Fisher Stadium Sunday. The Cavaliers fall to 18-23 overall and 9-11 in the GLIAC while the Timberwolves evened their record at 16-16 overall and 7-9 in the conference.
  • Softball Splits 5-4 Games With Lake State

    Walsh and Lake Superior State split a pair of close games with each team winning by a 5-4 margin on a sunny Saturday at Fisher Stadium. The Lakers( 5-29, 1-17) picked up their first conference win with a 5-4 victory in 10 innings in the opener before the Cavaliers (18-21, 9-9) rebounded to win 5-4 in regulation.
  • Late Game Rallies Help Softball Sweep Malone On Senior Day

    On Senior Day, Walsh swept Malone in a pair of one-run games by scores of 4-3 and 7-6 on a sunny Thursday afternoon. The Cavaliers improved to 17-20 overall and evened their GLIAC record to 8-8. The Pioneers dropped to 10-19 overall and 1-14 in the GLIAC.
  • Softball Swept By Eagles
    April 13, 2016
    Walsh was swept by Ashland in GLIAC softball action by scores of 5-2 and 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon at Brookside Park. The Cavaliers fell to 15-20 overall and 6-8 in the conference while the Eagles improved to 19-16 overall and 9-5 in the GLIAC.

    The Walsh softball team picked up its first GLIAC sweep of the season with 4-2 and 9-0 wins over Ohio Dominican on Wednesday afternoon. It gives the Cavaliers (15-18, 6-6) their first three-game win streak of the season and second shutout in their last three games.

    Twelve was a key number in Sunday’s doubleheader between Walsh and Findlay as the Oilers won game one 6-3 in 12 innings before the Cavaliers won the second 12-0 in five.
  • Softball Splits With Hillsdale To Start Homestand

    The Walsh softball team battled to a split with Hillsdale to kick off another eight-game home stand Saturday afternoon. The Chargers (11-5, 6-2) took the opener 5-3 before the Cavaliers (12-17, 3-5) rebounded for a 3-2 victory in the second.

    Walsh split a mid-week GLIAC doubleheader at Lake Erie with a 3-0 win in game one and an 11-1 loss in game two Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 11-16 on the season with a 2-4 conference mark.

    A pair of shutouts occurred in softball action with Walsh and Saginaw Valley splitting a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (10-15, 1-3) won the opening game 1-0 while the Cardinals (16-6, 2-2) took the second 6-0.
  • Walsh Swept By No. 18 Wayne State In GLIAC Opener

    (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – It was a tough conference opening day for Walsh as it was swept by No. 18 Wayne State by scores of 6-1 and 9-1 on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 9-14 overall on the season. The Warriors, who were also opening GLIAC play today, improved to 23-4. In the opening game, the Cavs initially took the lead with their only run of the game in the first inning. Danni Murtaugh brought in Alaina Manor for the run on a ground out the third base. Manor initially reached base on a fielding error to lead off the bottom of the inning. Wayne State scored the equalizer in the next frame and added five runs across the fifth and sixth innings. In the nightcap, the offense struggled again as the Cavaliers only generated three hits. Two of them came in the sixth inning as Anna Anderson and Manor combined for back-to-back triples for Walsh’s only score. The Warriors exploded for seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win the game on a walk-off sacrifice fly. The Cavaliers close out their eight-game home stand tomorrow with another GLIAC twin bill. This time the Maroon and Gold will host Saginaw Valley State with the first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
  • Softball Doubles Up Ohio Valley

    Despite cold and snowy weather, Walsh swept Ohio Valley in a doubleheader between future conference rivals on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers (9-12) came from behind to defeat the Fighting Scots (5-16) 5-4 in nine innings in the first game before a 5-1 win in the second.

    Playing softball wasn’t the only item on the agenda during Walsh’s spring break trip to the Sunshine State last week. During the Cavaliers’ off day, the team visited Clermont Elementary School as part of PFX The Spring Game’s Adopt-a-Team program.

    The Walsh softball team played its home opening doubleheader against the No. 2 team in the nation and were swept by Indianapolis by scores of 2-0 and 9-4 Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers drop to 7-12 on the season while the Greyhounds remain unbeaten at 19-0.
  • Cavs Fall In Conference Opener vs. Mercyhurst

    Walsh’s three-game winning streak was snapped by Mercyhurst by a score of 18-7 on a chilly evening at Vasco Field Tuesday. The Cavaliers (3-4, 0-1) were playing in their conference opener while the Lakers (4-1, 2-0) remained unbeaten in ECAC action.
  • Cavs Complete Spring Break With Pair of Wins

    The final day of spring break games was a great one for Walsh as it swept a pair of games against Franklin Pierce and Bentley on Saturday morning. The Cavaliers (7-10) defeated the Ravens (0-1) 1-0 and followed up with a 9-3 win over the Falcons (0-2).
  • Softball Opens Day With Shutout of Southwest Minnesota

    One run was all it took for Walsh to defeat Southwest Minnesota State in a 1-0 shutout at the NTC Softball Facility Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers improved to 5-9 with the win. The Mustangs drop to 3-11.
  • Softball Falls To Cedarville, Mount Olive

    Walsh fell in a pair of games against Cedarville and Mount Olive by scores of 9-5 and 8-0, respectively, at Hancock Park this afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 4-9 on the season. The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-8, while the Trojans stood at 11-12 after their game with Walsh.

    Walsh was swept in a pair of games in Florida as the Cavaliers fell to Charleson (W.Va.) 2-1 before they were defeated by future conference foe Trevecca Nazarene 8-0 in six innings Tuesday afternoon.

    In the first of two games Monday, Walsh defeated Edinboro 3-2 at the Minneola Complex in the morning. The Cavaliers improved their record to 4-4 with the win while the Fighting Scots fell to 1-2.
  • Softball Swept By Quincy, Southern Indiana

    Walsh was defeated in both of its softball games today as it fell 5-0 to Quincy before a narrow 4-3 loss to Southern Indiana at Hancock Park. The Cavaliers are now 3-3 on the young season. The Hawks improved to 5-4 and the Screaming Eagles jumped to 11-5.
  • Softball Wraps Up Opening Weekend With Loss To Ill.-Springfield

    The Walsh softball team was shutout in its final game at the Rosemont Invitational with a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Illinois Springfield. The Cavaliers went 3-2 on the season opening weekend while the Prairie Stars improved to 4-10.
  • Softball Falls To Missouri S&T in Extras, Takes Down William Jewell

    Walsh split its second day of softball competition with a tough 6-5 extra innings loss to Missouri S&T before a 5-3 win over William Jewell at the Rosemont Invitational. The Cavaliers are now 3-1, the Miners improved to 2-9, and the Cardinals dropped to 6-5.
  • Softball Sweeps Opening Day Games Vs. Lindenwood, UW-Parkside

    The Walsh softball team started the season on a good note with a pair of wins over Lindenwood and Wisconsin-Parkside at the Rosemont Invitational. The Cavaliers made quick work of the Lions (2-9) by a score of 8-0 and capped the day off with a 1-0 win over the Rangers (3-10).

    The 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll has been announced prior to the start of the new season. Walsh has been picked to finish sixth in the 14-team conference.
  • Softball Announces Pair of Fall Camps

    Walsh University Softball Head Coach Jaime Porter has announced a pair of fall camps for students in grades 3 through 12 this upcoming September. The first will be on Saturday Sept. 5, for students in grades 9 through 12. The second will be on Sunday, Sept. 6, for students in grades 3 through 8.
