  • Diamond Dozen Named NFCA Scholar-Athletes

    A total of 12 Cavaliers’ softball players have been named scholar-athletes for the 2014-15 academic year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Student-athletes must have acquired a 3.5 GPA for the year to qualify for the individual honor.

    Former rivals Walsh and Notre Dame split a non-conference twin bill on an overcast Thursday afternoon at the Walsh Softball Complex. The Cavaliers (17-10) took Game 1 by a score of 6-2 while the Falcons (17-21) took the night cap 9-1 in five innings.

  • Cavs Cruise By Lake State In Opener; Game 2 Suspended

    Walsh and Lake Superior State were able to get one game in before rains suspended the bottom end of a GLIAC doubleheader on Good Friday. The Cavaliers (11-4, 6-1) cruised by the Lakers (8-13, 1-6) by a score of 7-1 in the first game and led 8-5 in the second before the decision to suspend the game was made.

    In its third doubleheader in as many days, Walsh swept visiting Lake Erie College by scores of 4-3 and 17-8 on a chilly spring afternoon. The Cavaliers improved to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference while the Storm fell to 6-8 overall and are 0-2 in GLIAC play.
  • Rohr Named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week

    The GLIAC has announced that Casi Rohr is the conference Pitcher of the Week after three excellent performances over the weekend. The senior allowed just one run on seven hits with 29 strikeouts in 20.1 innings of work. Rohr also added a no-hitter in a sweep of Ferris State.

    Walsh swept Ferris State by scores of 5-0 and 9-6 in a doubleheader on a sunny Monday afternoon. The Cavs improve to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference while the Bulldogs dropped to 9-23 and 2-2 in the conference.

    Walsh closed out its spring break games the Sunshine State with a pair of wins over Lewis and Cedarville. The Cavaliers (5-3) defeated the Flyers (6-4) 5-4 in eight innings before they defeated the Yellow Jackets (2-6) 7-3.
  • Cavs Tripped Up By Gannon and Mary

    The Walsh softball team dropped both of its games in a doubleheader against Gannon and Mary today. The Cavs (3-3) dropped the opener against Gannon (4-1) 10-4 before they suffered a 6-0 loss to Mary (3-8).
