Men Picked No. 1, Women No. 2 in G-MAC XC Preseason Polls

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Walsh Cavaliers dominate the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour for 2018 as released today. The men were picked to defend their conference title with 143 total points and 11 first place votes among the thirteen-team field. The women's team were also among the favorites and picked second with 154 points and one first place vote.

Coming off a strong season, the Cavalier men jumped up two spots from the 2017 preseason rankings where they were selected to finish third. Walsh ended up winning the conference championship, Walsh's first team conference title in the NCAA era.

Following not far behind the Maroon and Gold was Malone with 133 total points and two first place votes. There was a tie for the No. 3 spot with both Cedarville and Hillsdale garnering 117 points. Davis & Elkins and Findlay earned the five and six spots, respectively.

On the women's side, Hillsdale was selected to repeat with 169 points and 13 first place votes. . Following directly behind the Cavaliers is Malone with 143 total points, and securing the number four spot is Cedarville with 138 points.

Coming off a dominant season full of regional and national rankings, Walsh moves up two spots from last season's preseason poll where they were selected to finish fourth.

The men's and women's cross country teams, led by seventh year Head Coach Rob Mizicko, open their season with the National Catholic Meet at the University of Notre Dame on Friday, September 14.
