Men's XC Finishes Second At National Catholic Meet

(SOUTH BEND, Ind.) – It was a successful day all-around as Walsh finished second in the non-Division I portion of the National Catholic Meet hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers finished with 50 points as the top seven team members finished in the top 20.

Loras won the event with a team total of 32. Siena Heights was a distant third with 125 points.

Walsh's top five runners who were responsible for the points all finished in the top 14. Spencer Wirick was the top Cavalier runner as he finished fourth with a time of 25:43.5. Jacob Kernell followed with a time of 26:24.3 to finish eighth.

Jacob Caniford was 11th with a time of 26:34.1. Jacob Turner and Justin Maroni finished back-to-back just a few seconds apart with times of 26:43.7 and 26:47.3 to finish 13th and 14th, respectively.

Noah Murray finished 17th with a time of 27:04.4. Jared Bugaj squeezed into the top 20 with a time of 27:17.7.

The Cavaliers will face another big test in two weeks as they head to Cedarville to run in the All-Ohio Championships. The races will take place on Friday, Sept. 30.
