(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh cross country teams are set for their annual season-opening race with the Ric Sayre Invitational. Both men's and women's squads are poised for big seasons with hopes of advancing to the national championships.
Already both teams are gaining recognition with regional rankings and receiving votes in national rankings by the USTFCCCA.
On the men's side, the Cavaliers received the No. 6 spot in the opening Midwest Region polls after finishing seventh in the region a year ago. That translated into receiving 12 points in the national Top 25 rankings where Walsh would be No. 27 if extended.
The women come in at No. 9 after finishing in the same spot in the Midwest Region a year ago. The women also received votes nationally with three to put them in a tie for 32nd if extended.
Both teams will be in action Friday with the race to begin at 5 p.m.
