(PITTSBURGH) – Allegheny was no match for Walsh as the Cavaliers handled the Gators by an 8-1 score on Tuesday afternoon at the Robertson Complex. The Cavaliers improved to 2-1 on the campaign.
The Cavs jumped up early with a sweep in doubles action. Vasily Vidmanov and Rodrigo Garcia scored the first point with an 8-2 win over Chaz Simunyola and Colton Johnson Taylor in second doubles. Ross Whittaker and Felix Zimmerman followed soon after with an 8-3 win at first doubles. Heitor Adegas and Jonah Carter completed the sweep with an 8-5 win in thirds.
Zimmerman was the first to finish in singles action as he took down Simunyola 6-2, 6-1 at the third spot. Jose Fernandez clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at sixth singles. Whittaker (6-3, 6-2), Adegas (6-1, 6-2), and Garcia (6-3, 7-6) all added wins in singles action as well.
Walsh returns to action next Wednesday as it travels to Columbus to take on Capital.
