  • Men's Tennis Team, Duo Earn ITA All-Academic Honors

    Both Walsh tennis teams as well as seven players between the two squads were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with All-Academic status today. Walsh was one of five GLIAC schools that had both teams earn the honor.

    Walsh University Men’s Tennis Head Coach Bryan Whittaker recently announced the signing of two German tennis players to the recruiting class of 2016-17. Standouts Tom Rohling and Felix Zimmermann will join the Cavaliers this upcoming season after signing National Letters of Intent.

    The Walsh men’s tennis team is on the rise with its first ITA Midwest Regional since joining the NCAA as the Cavaliers debuted at No. 10. Tomorrow they will make their first appearance in the GLIAC Tournament at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
  • Cavs Downed By Grand Valley, Preps for Playoffs

    Walsh wrapped up the regular season with a 6-3 defeat at Grand Valley State on Sunday. The Cavaliers qualified for the GLIAC tournament with a 4-5 conference mark and are 11-11 overall on the season. The Lakers finish the regular season at 15-6 overall and 8-1 in the GLIAC.
  • Cavs Fall to Nationally Ranked Ferris State

    In a match between two of the top ranked teams in the region, nationally ranked No. 36 Ferris State took an 8-1 win over Walsh in GLIAC action today. The Cavaliers (11-10, 4-3) recently received their first regional ranking at No. 10 while the Bulldogs (18-4, 8-0) are ranked No. 3.

    It was a perfect week for the Walsh men’s tennis team as it doubled up Findlay 6-3 at the Armstrong Courts on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 11-9 on the season overall and 4-3 in the GLIAC heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
  • Cavs Come From Behind To Defeat Chargers 5-4

    The Walsh men’s tennis team edged Hillsdale by a narrow 5-4 count as it returned to GLIAC action today. The Cavaliers (10-9, 3-3) also evened their conference mark after they dropped the last three in-league contests. The Chargers (6-9, 1-6) were hosting their penultimate match of the season.

    In a match between former and future conference rivals, Walsh easily handled Cedarville by a score of 7-2 in men’s tennis action Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers evened up their season once again at 9-9 while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 11-6.

    In its final home contest of the season, the Walsh men’s tennis team dropped a heartbreaker to Tiffin by a count of 5-4 in GLIAC action at the Hall of Fame Courts on Saturday. The Cavaliers are now 8-9 overall on the season and 2-3 in GLIAC play.

    Walsh battled Northwood close, but fell to visiting Northwood by a score of 5-3 at the Hall of Fame Courts. The Cavaliers are now even at 8-8 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Timberwolves are now 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the GLIAC.
  • Men's Tennis Downed By Wayne State

    Walsh fell to Wayne State as it resumed GLIAC action with a 7-2 loss at the Hall of Fame Courts on Saturday morning. It was the first GLIAC loss of the season for the Cavaliers (8-7, 2-1) while the Warriors (6-9, 1-0) were playing in their first conference match of the year.
  • Men's Tennis Scores Second Upset In Three Days

    For the second time in three days, the Walsh men’s tennis team upset a ranked opponent at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover. This time the victim was Rockhurst with a 5-4 decision over the No. 9 team in the most recent ITA Midwest Regional rankings.
  • Men's Tennis Upsets No. 39 Lewis in GLIAC/GLVC Crossover

    The Walsh men’s tennis team picked up an impressive win by a 5-4 count over nationally ranked No. 39 Lewis at the Five Star Tennis Center Thursday afternoon. It was the first match for the Cavaliers (7-5) in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover which is being hosted by the Flyers (6-5).
  • Cavs Shut Out By Southern Indiana

    The Walsh men’s tennis team couldn’t make it two upsets in a row as it fell to Southern Indiana in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover event Friday afternoon. The loss snapped a three-match win streak for the Cavaliers (7-6) who were playing without Ross Whittaker and Pablo Cabezon.
  • Men's Tennis Goes Unbeaten In Opening GLIAC Weekend

    In the opening weekend of conference play, Walsh wrapped up a perfect weekend with a 6-3 victory over Lake Superior State at the Hall of Fame Courts in Canton. The Cavaliers (6-5, 2-0) initially went down to the Lakers (4-5, 0-2) after doubles, but won five of the singles matches to record the win.

    Walsh had little trouble in its conference and home opener as it defeated Michigan Tech by a score of 8-1 at the Hall of Fame Courts Saturday morning. The Cavaliers even its overall record at 5-5. The Huskies, who also opened up GLIAC play today, fell to 3-5.

    It was a tough outing for the Walsh men’s tennis team as it fell to hosting Florida Tech 8-1 in its final spring break match Tuesday morning. The Cavaliers fall to 4-5 on the season. The Panthers improve to 8-4.

    The Walsh men’s tennis team fell to hosting Florida Southern by an 8-1 count at the Warden Tennis Center on Tuesday. The Cavaliers fall to 4-4 with the defeat while the Mocs improved to 6-3.
  • Cavs Pull Comeback On Bloomsburg

    The Walsh men’s tennis team completed a major comeback with a 5-4 victory over Bloomsburg in its first match of spring break on Monday morning. The Cavaliers (4-3) wend down 3-0 to the Huskies (2-2) after doubles play, but won five of the six singles matches to take the win.

  • Men's Tennis Finds Success at ITA Regional Tourney

    The Walsh men’s tennis team competed in the Midwest USTA/ITA Regional Championships at Grand Valley State over the weekend and found success in various brackets. The duo of Pablo Cabezon (Sr., Santander, Spain/Calasanz Collegue) and Carlos Jaque (Sr., Chijuayante/Lycee Charles de Gaulle) turned in the finest performance as they advanced all the way to the semifinals in the A Doubles bracket.
