GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Walsh Cavaliers men's lacrosse team battled a tough opponent in the tenth-ranked Seton Hill Griffins on Tuesday (April 16), falling 19-5 in a G-MAC matchup.
A low scoring first quarter featured only four goals total. Seton Hill scored two goals in the first six minutes of the game before Walsh cut the lead in half with two minutes left in the quarter on a Brent Mitchell goal. The Griffins scored with seconds left on the clock, leading 3-1 after one frame.
Seton Hill scored the first two goals in the second quarter until Marcus Brown tallied his first goal of the game at the seven minute mark. The Cavaliers trailed 5-2 at the intermission.
The first three goals of the quarter were all in a 12 second period. The Griffins started the third quarter on a goal before Walsh answered just six seconds afterwards on a goal from Jake Cieszynski. Six seconds after that, Seton Hill quickly answered with a goal. Walsh added two straight goals, one by Brown and a man up goal from Evan Bradley, assisted by Tyler Stowell. Seton Hill closed out the quarter with a 10-5 lead after three straight goals.
The Griffins scored nine goals in the fourth quarter, closing the game with a final score of 19-5.
Brown was the only player with multiple goals as he notched two goals in the contest.
Walsh will host Alderson Broaddus on Saturday (April 20) at 1:00 PM for Senior Day.
