(FINDLAY, Ohio) - The #2 seed Walsh Cavaliers traveled to the University of Findlay to take on the #3 seed Hillsdale Chargers in the G-MAC semifinals earlier this evening. The Cavaliers prevailed as they defeated Hillsdale in what turned out to be a tight game through all 40 minutes.
The duo of JT Shumate and Sterling Christy lead on the offensive end throughout the contest. Christy posted 11 points and Shumate contributed ten heading into halftime, with Walsh leading 30-27. Shumate took over in the second half adding 13 more points to reach his total of 23 on the night. Christy added five more during the second half en route to 16 points on the evening. Darryl Straughter struggled offensively, but still contributed to the win as he grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Reece Bogan and Caleb Canter played solid minutes for the Cavaliers, contributing eight points a piece.
Dylan Lowry posted 17 points to lead the Hillsdale offense. Austen Yarian and Nick Czarnowski were the only other Hillsdale players to reach double figures with ten and 12, respectively.
The Cavaliers will take on the #1 seed Oilers in tomorrow's G-MAC championship match-up at 2:00 PM in Croy Gymnasium.
