(LAS VEGAS) – Former Walsh Cavalier Lamar Skeeter is having a busy month with the Utah Jazz during the NBA Summer League season. The Assistant Coach of Player Development recently served as the head coach for the team's off-season playoff game against the Orlando Magic late Thursday night.
Alex Jensen, who has been Utah's head coach for the summer session, and other coaches were absent for an undisclosed reason leaving Skeeter the opportunity to lead the squad.
So how did the Jazz do with the former Walsh All-American at the helm? Well, they went on to defeat the Magic 75-70 behind double-doubles from Diamond Stone (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Georges Niang (12 points, 11 rebounds).
"We've been together since early July or whenever it started, so everybody was comfortable with each other," said Skeeter while addressing the media after the game. "They're used to hearing our staff's voice, so when Alex is gone, the guys still know what we're doing out here."
The Jazz advanced to Round 2 in the tournament bracket, but fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 92-86 on Saturday.
