Walsh Shuts Down Senators

(ELKINS, W.Va.) – Walsh swept the season series with Davis & Elkins after an 80-54 thrashing on the road Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (14-4, 9-3) have now won five consecutive games with the win against the Senators (4-14, 2-11).

It wasn't until midway through the first half that the Cavaliers started to take charge and pull away from the Senators. After the hosts tied the game at 15-15 on a layup, Darryl Straughter drained a 3-pointer to give Walsh the lead for good.

After that, almost everything went right for the Maroon and Gold. For the next 29 minutes, Walsh was able to outscore the Senators 63-28.

The speed and inside game of the Cavs proved too much for D&E. Walsh dominated the paint by a 42-24 margin. The Cavaliers also found themselves on numerous fast breaks and outscored the Senators 18-0 in such situations.

Four Cavaliers scored in double figures with Bo Furcron leading the group with a game-high 19 points. Steven Carptener had his best game of the year as he poured in a season-best 15 points on 6-of-7 from the field with a career-best nine rebounds.

Chandler Vaudrin recorded his 11th double-double of the season as the reigning G-MAC Player of the Week scored 12 points and pulled down 10 boards. Straughter also finished in double-figures with 14 points with four 3-pointers.

Jordan Mcelveen and Trevor English led the Senators with 12 points each.

Walsh will finish its three-game road trip with Ohio Dominican this Tuesday. Tip-off with the Panthers is set for 5:30 p.m.
