(HILLSDALE, Mich.) – A strong second-half surge by Hillsdale doomed Walsh as it fell by a score of 73-63 on the road Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the G-MAC, while the Chargers improved to 9-2 and 3-1 in the same categories.
The Cavs had the early momentum as they jumped out to a 14-2 lead thanks to a pair of Conner Wess 3-pointers. Walsh extended its lead to 25-9 just under 10 minutes into the game. Hillsdale closed the gap slightly, but Walsh was able to go into the halftime break with a 42-33 lead.
After the break, the Chargers took charge and went on a 12-2 run for their first lead of the game. Walsh quickly regained the lead with a Sterling Christy layup to make the score 46-45, but Hillsdale answered with a 3-pointer to take the lead back and held it the rest of the way.
Nick Czarnowski paced the Chargers with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.
Walsh will return to action with one more game before the Christmas break on Thursday when it hosts Ohio Valley. Tip-off with the Fighting Scots is set for 5:30 p.m.
