(INDIANAPOLIS) – After the third week of the season, Walsh's Chandler Vaudrin has been named the G-MAC's Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. It's the first Player of the Week honors for Walsh in the new conference.
Vaudrin had three impressive games in which he averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals per game in three wins, two of which came in conference play.
He started out the week a rebound shy of his second triple-double of the season with 17 points, 10 assists, nine boards, and four steals in an 87-68 victory over a previously undefeated Indiana Tech. Vaudrin followed up with nine points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in the G-MAC opener against Davis & Elkins.
The sophomore point guard capped the week with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and four steals in another conference win over Alderson Broaddus. Overall he shot 53.1 percent on 17-of-32 from the field. He was 7-of-13 against the Warriors and 8-of-14 against the Battlers.
Vaudrin is the league leader in both assists and steals, ranks 10th in the Great Midwest in scoring and comes in at second in rebounding.
Vaudrin and the Cavaliers will head on the road for the first time this season when they take on Findlay and Hillsdale this week. Walsh will tangle with the Oilers first on Thursday with a 6 p.m. tip-off from Croy Gymnasium.
