Walsh Travels To Ashland For Important Late Season Contest

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Walsh men's basketball team heads to nearby Ashland in one of the most important games of the season as the Cavaliers fight for a GLIAC tournament bid. The Cavs enter at 15-9 overall and 8-9 in the GLIAC, while the Eagles stand at 15-8 overall and 10-7 in the conference.

The Cavs are a half-game behind Hillsdale for third place in the South Division. Findlay leads the division and has already clinched a playoff bid at 13-4. The Eagles are in second place. The top three teams in each division automatically get a spot in the GLIAC tournament.

Zac Carter currently leads the team with 24.9 points per game which is third in the nation and ranks first in the GLIAC. Trey Fletcher is second in the conference and 25th in the nation in points with 21.8.

Fletcher moved into sixth on the all-time scoring list at Walsh this past weekend. He now has 1,682 points in his career. Bob Boldon is fifth on the list with 1,694 points. Carter has scored at least 20 points in 13 of the last 14 games. He recently passed Mike Parker for 11th on Walsh's all-time scoring list and now has 1,473 for his career. Todd Brown is 10th with 1,517.

Ashland is led by Adrian Cook who averages 13.8 points per game. Marsalis Hamilton leads the Eagles in rebounds with 6.6 per contest.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
