Football Brings in 35 For Class of 2018

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – It's an exciting day in the Walsh Cavalier football offices as new Head Coach John Fankhauser announced the addition of 35 players. The Class of 2018 is one of the strongest in program history and features many players from northeast Ohio. The 34 is by far the largest for the Maroon and Gold since joining the NCAA.

Of the incoming class, all but six come from the state of Ohio. Four come from the Keystone State of Pennsylvania, another will make the trek north from Florida, and another transfers in from the state of Michigan.

"I would like to thank our football staff for their hard work and dedication to the program. They have done an awesome job," said Coach Fankhauser. "I would also like to thank Rebecca Coneglio and the admissions staff for their support as we welcome this initial class of 34 recruits. Our staff filled our needs with a very talented group of student athletes on the field. We also believe that these young men have great character as well. The grade point average of this group is 3.12. We feel these recruits will ultimately do well in the classroom. I welcome them into the Cavalier football family, and look forward to getting them on campus."

Walsh opens the season on Thursday, Aug. 30, at former conference foe Wayne State.
