(INDIANAPOLIS) – Place kicker Kasey Tingler has been named the Great Midwest's Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 10 after a spectacular game at Lake Erie on Saturday. It's the third time this season the Cavaliers have had someone earn the honor for special teams.
Tingler has had an exceptional rookie campaign in his sophomore season and continued that with seven points against the Storm. He was once again perfect on all point-after attempts, but the highlight came near the end of the third quarter with a 49-yard field goal.
Not only did the kick set a new conference record, but it broke his own record set earlier this season by five yards. Overall he has the three longest field goals in the conference this season with kicks of 49, 44, and 43 yards. He is now 7-for-9 on all field goal tries on the season, including a perfect 3-for-3 from the 40-49 range.
The Maroon and Gold will return to action as it takes on rival Malone at Tom Benson Stadium this Saturday. Kickoff with the Pioneers is set for 1 p.m.
