(CANTON, Ohio) – The homecoming game will feature a new opponent for Walsh as it entertains Alderson Broaddus in G-MAC action under the lights at Tom Benson Stadium on Saturday evening. The Cavaliers (1-5, 1-1) and Battlers (2-4, 1-1) have had tough stretches during the first part of the season, but are looking to get above .500 in conference action.
This is the first meeting ever between the two teams. Alderson Broaddus is a relatively new program that was started in 2012.
Both teams feature a Player of the Week with Leondre Crosby for Walsh and Zach Chandler for Alderson Broaddus. Crosby earned honors on special teams with a punt block that led to a touchdown later in the play. He also had a 71-yard fumble return that led to a touchdown on the next play. Chandler combined for over 350 yards of offense with four touchdowns for the Battlers.
The Cavaliers played one of their best games last week in a 56-29 thrashing of Kentucky Wesleyan on the road. The points were the most for Walsh since 2011 when the Maroon and Gold put up 60. It's the most since joining Division II.
The game will air on Walsh Stretch Internet with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
