(NEW BRITAIN, Conn.) – For the second consecutive week, Walsh will square off on the gridiron against a Division I opponent in Central Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon. Both the Cavaliers and Blue Devils will be looking for their first win on the campaign as each has a record of 0-3 on the season.
The Maroon and Gold are coming off of a loss at Jacksonville last week, but scored 31 points in the loss, the most since a win over Findlay in 2015. The Cavaliers scored on every possession in the second half and capped off all four drives with touchdowns.
The Cavs also showed their big-play ability in various forms with a 76-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell Ault to Kalvin Gordon on a screen play, a 54-yard run by Dontrez Johnson, and a 44-yard field goal by Kasey Tingler. As a result, Walsh has the longest play in each of those categories, as well as the longest punt by Cole Krumpak, in the G-MAC.
Walsh has also shone strong discipline this season as the Cavs lead the G-MAC in fewest penalty yards per game with 39.7.
Broadcasting will be provided by Central Connecticut State via NEC Front Row. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
