  • Walsh Names Ted Karras Jr., Football Coach

    Walsh University Director of Athletics Dale Howard has announced that Ted Karras Jr. is the new head football coach at Walsh. Karras (48-23), who spent the last seven seasons at Marian University, and recently won the NAIA National Championship, replaces Jim Dennison who resigned at the end of the 2012 season. Dennison started the Cavs’ program in 1995 and served as the only coach.
  • Cavs Place Six on All-GLIAC Team

    Walsh University placed six players on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team. Jamaris Brown (DB, So., Fort Myers, FL/Lehigh), Ryan Fehernbach (DL, Sr., Cincinnati, OH/Turpin), Toba Olarewaju (TB, Sr., Youngstown, OH/Christian), Andrew Roy (DL, Jr., Tallmadge, OH/HS), Anthony Schrock (WR, So., Wadsworth, OH/HS/Akron), and Sir Taylor (DB, Sr., Albany, NY/Lincoln Hall/Youngstown State) were all named honorable mention.

    After walking the sidelines for 18 years at Walsh University Jim Dennison has announced that he will retire from coaching, and as Associate Athletic Director. Dennison has spent 31 years on the sidelines and 53 as a coach and administrator.
  • Findlay Downs Cavs in Season Finale

    (Canton, OH) Former Canton McKinley running back Monterae Williams came home and scored four TDs, and rushed for 187 yards in Findlay’s 26-7 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Walsh at Fawcett Stadium today. Walsh closes the season with three straight losses and finishes 3-8 overall and 2-8 in the GLIAC. The loss also denied Walsh Head Coach Jim Dennison is 200th career collegiate win. Findlay closes 7-3 overall and in conference play.

    (Lyndhurst, OH) Notre Dame’s (3-7, 2-7) Colton Wallace caught a 38-yard TD pass from Russ Ray with six seconds to play to give the Falcons a 31-28 come from behind win over the Cavaliers (3-7, 2-7) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game. The loss denied Walsh Head Coach Jim Dennison his 200th collegiate win. The Cavs close the season at home next Saturday against the University of Findlay at Fawcett Stadium at 12 pm.

    (Canton, OH) Lake Erie (3-6, 3-5) denied Walsh Head Coach Jim Dennison his 200th career collegiate win, by defeating the Cavs in overtime 27-20. The loss drops the Cavs to 3-6 overall and to 2-6 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Cavs are on the road at Notre Dame College (Brush HS) next Saturday at 1 pm.
  • Cavs Rout Tiffin; Dennison Closes in on Win # 200

    (Canton, OH) Walsh (3-5, 2-5) scored its first first quarter touchdowns of the season, on its way to a 27-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Tiffin University (2-6, 1-6) on Homecoming. The win was number 199 the collegiate career for Head Coach Jim Dennison (199-136-2, 18th yr.). Dennison goes for number 200 against Lake Erie College next Saturday night at Fawcett Stadium at 6 pm.

    Walsh couldn’t find a way to get past Ashland’s stout defense and fell 30-0 on the road for the Eagles’ homecoming game Saturday afternoon. It was the first time the Cavaliers (2-5, 1-5) have been shutout in 10 years. The No. 8 Eagles remained unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the GLIAC.

The Cavs fall to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs improve to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

    Walsh (1-2, 0-2) was blanked 20-0 in the second half and lost 30-7 to Michigan Tech University (2-0, 2-0) in their GLIAC home opener at Fawcett Stadium today. The Cavs will look to snap their modest two-game skid at Ferris State University next Saturday night at 7pm. The game will be broadcast live on Teamline.
  • Cavs Drop Conference Opener to Northwood 28-16

    Walsh fell in its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener on the road at Northwood University by a score of 28-16 Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers now stand at 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Timberwolves improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

    Walsh opened NCAA II competition with a 40-10 romp over Kentucky Wesleyan College tonight in the sweltering Kentucky heat. The Cavs were outstanding in all phases of the game, scoring in the air, on the ground, and on special teams.
