  • Baseball Team To Host Summer Camp in June

    The Walsh baseball team will be hosting a summer came Monday, June 4, through Thursday, June 7, for students entering grades 1 through 6. The camp will be run by the Cavaliers coaches and players and will cover all facets of the game of baseball.
  • Conner Named to NCBWA All-Region Team

    Eric Conner has earned more postseason honors as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has announced its All-Region teams this afternoon. Conner was one six named overall and one of three on the Second Team.
  • Season Ends As Walsh Falls To Kentucky Wesleyan In 11-5

    The baseball season came to an end as Walsh fell to Kentucky Wesleyan 11-5 in the first elimination game on Friday in the G-MAC Tournament. The Cavaliers end the year at 26-23 with their third-straight postseason appearance.
  • Cavs Fall Against Hillsdale, But Fight On Past Findlay

    It was a long day and late night for Walsh in its second day of the G-MAC Tournament, but the Cavaliers will fight to play another day. The Maroon and Gold were downed 1-0 in a pitcher’s duel with Hillsdale before a 12-10 victory over Findlay in the nightcap elimination game.
  • Cavs Upset No.16 and Top-Seeded Ohio Dominican In G-MAC Tournament

    A four-run fifth inning helped propel Walsh into the winner’s bracket with a 5-4 victory over nationally ranked and top-seeded Ohio Dominican at Prasco Park on Wednesday evening. The Cavaliers (25-21) have now split their four games with the No. 16 Panthers (32-14) this season.
  • Magnificent Seven Named to G-MAC All-Conference Team

    On the eve of its tournament, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its All-Conference Team and seven Walsh Cavaliers were named with honors. Eric Conner and Nick Bebout took the highest honors for the Maroon and Gold with First Team selections. Andrew Czech, Marcus Bobb, and Avery Janning followed as Second Team choices, while Cobe Hutchison and Aidan Mlachak completed the group as Honorable Mentions.
  • Cavs Come From Behind To Win Rubber Match With Chargers

    Sunday’s regular season finale was a thriller that saw Walsh come from behind to defeat Hillsdale 8-5 at Biery Stadium. The Cavaliers (24-21, 16-11) scored four runs on the same play in the eighth to take their first lead of the game and held on after the Chargers (22-27, 17-10) brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth.

    Needing just one win to clinch a spot on next week’s G-MAC Tournament in Mason, Ohio, Walsh got the job done with a 7-2 win after a 6-4 loss to Hillsdale in Saturday’s doubleheader. The Cavaliers (23-21, 15-11) secured one of the wild card bids, while the Chargers (22-26, 17-9) preserved its automatic bid with the initial win.
  • High-Powered Kent State Too Much For Cavaliers

    In its final non-conference game of the regular season, Walsh fell to Division I power Kent State by a score of 12-3 at Schoonover Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Cavaliers (22-20) did show some spark early on, but the Golden Flashes (29-13) answered any shot given by the Maroon and Gold.

    Walsh split its final non-conference twin bill of the season with an 8-5 win and a 12-9 loss against a talented Slippery Rock squad on Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers moved to 22-19 on the season while Slippery Rock, the No. 6 team in the Atlantic Region, now stands at 28-14.

    Former Walsh All-American Ryan McSweeney will play professional baseball after he was drafted by the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League Draft on Tuesday evening in Florence, Kentucky. McSweeney was selected No. 3 overall after the Grizzlies traded the No. 1 pick to the Traverse City Beach Bums.

    With a walk-off hit in the nightcap, Walsh was able to split a doubleheader with rival Malone at Biery Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers (25-14, 14-7) took game one 6-4 before the Cavaliers (20-16, 13-8) prevailed in the second 5-4 in 11 innings.

    The first game in the series with Malone didn’t go as well as Walsh had hoped as it fell 7-2 at Biery Stadium on a sunny Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers (19-15, 12-7) and Pioneers (24-13, 13-6) were tied for fourth place in the North Division entering the day and will play two more tomorrow afternoon.
  • Baseball Completes Sweep Of Storm In 13-4 Victory

    A 13-4 victory over Lake Erie completed the series sweep that started Friday and gave Walsh another important win in the G-MAC’s North Division. The Cavaliers (19-14, 12-6) not only moved two games ahead of the Storm (12-16-1, 10-8), but it also put them in a tie for fourth place with Malone.

    Walsh swept Lake Erie in the first part of their split series by scores of 12-5 and 10-3 on a sunny Friday afternoon at Biery Stadium. The Cavaliers (18-14, 11-6) moved one game ahead of the Storm (12-15-1, 10-7) in the divisional standings with a single game scheduled between the two in Painesville on Monday.

    Walsh opened up North Division play with an 11-5 defeat to Findlay at Biery Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (14-12, 7-6) and Oilers (16-5, 9-2) were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader, but because of the snow that came down the previous night, the two will play two on Sunday.

    A home run derby broke out Thursday afternoon at Biery Stadium as Walsh hit six of them in an 11-5 victory over Notre Dame College. Four of them came in the fourth inning alone as the Cavaliers (14-11) jumped out to a 9-0 lead against the Falcons (6-20).

    Spring break ended for the Walsh baseball team with a narrow 8-7 defeat to former and future conference rival Tiffin at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (6-6) rallied to score four runs in the final two frames, but fell just short against the Dragons (5-5).
